Perfectionist to Proud

Nita Weitzman

By: Linda Silverman

I remember Nita Weitzman, my third grade teacher. She was young, and she had caring brown eyes. There is one vivid memory that stands out to this day. The day after she took our class to the zoo, she asked us the write letters to the Zookeeper, thanking him. I started my letter, made a mistake, crumpled up the paper and started over several times. A perfectionist! (No one who knows me will be surprised that I was a perfectionist at 8…) I was so frustrated that I started to cry. Nita gently comforted me and encouraged me to keep trying. I finally finished the letter, and she chose mine to send to the Zookeeper. I was so proud!
